David Shearer has conceded that his attendance of the event was “not a good look.”

Labour leader David Shearer is under fire today after being seen leaving a private National Party drinks function with several other Labour MPs, including Phil Goff, Clayton Cosgrove and Kris Faafoi.

Shearer said this morning that he didn’t intend to be seen at the function, but that was “no excuse,” and attending was “not the best idea, probably.”

He admitted that the move did look “a bit hypocritical,” and said he would review plans to attend future National Party events.
