Sean Plunket pre-emptively takes self to boss’s office, stays there

Plunket said this morning that Catton should be more “measured” and “careful about what she says”, like talk radio.

Following an on-air rant this morning about Man Booker Prize winner Eleanor Catton, in which he called her a “traitor” and an “ungrateful hua,” radio host Sean Plunket has pre-emptively taken himself to MediaWorks head offices in Auckland, where he intends to remain until such time as he would’ve been called there anyway.

A spokesperson for MediaWorks said Punket entered the offices at about 12:11pm this afternoon, about ten minutes after finishing his morning show on Radio Live.

The secretary greeted him.

“Yes,” said Plunket. “I’m here for, uhm, you know–”

“Yes,” she nodded, before directing him to the office of Wendy Palmer, chief executive of MediaWorks radio.

Palmer is currently on holiday, and won’t be back until next week, but according to several sources, Plunket remains in the office, snacking on complimentary mints, and has no intention of leaving.

“He’s very quiet,” said Julie Langsford, who works near Palmer’s office. “Every hour or so, he just says something to himself under his breath, like ‘oh shit’, or ‘fuck me.’ Not upset, really. Quite peaceful, actually. I think he’s just accepted it, and doesn’t want to fight anymore.”

MediaWorks said that the fire department has been alerted, and is on standby to rescue Plunket if he runs out of mints.
